The first T4E on-site training seminar took place in the premises of the 3rd Geniko Lykeio Larissas on Monday 24 February 2020. The meeting was attended by teachers from primary and secondary schools of the prefectures of Larissa and Karditsa who were selected to participate in the European Educational Erasmus+ KA3 2018-2021 program titled: “Teachers4Europe: setting an Agora for Democratic Culture» Call reference EACEA/10/2018 –Reference Number: 604665-EPP-1-2018-1-EL-EPPKA3-IPI-SOC-IN. The aim of the program is to raise awareness on EU issues, values and democracy and enhance understanding and ownership of EU values and fundamental rights. The consortium that runs the program consists of the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs by the General Directorate for International, European Affairs, Hellenic Education and Intercultural Education, the Research Centre of the University of Piraeus, Jean Monnet Chair in Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies of the European Union, Department of International and European Studies and the and the Greek National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministries of Education, Research Centers, Universities and Educational Institutions of Germany, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Malta and Romania.
The meeting was organized by Anna Varna, Stamoulis Vlandos, Zisoula Goutsioukosta, Fanis Katsanos, Marina Kollatou and Artemis Papadimitriou T4E Ambassadors in Larissa and Karditsa. The 50 Teachers present at the meeting were informed by the Ambassadors about the objectives of the program, the educational tools and the dissemination strategies of the results to the wider public. The Ambassadors discussed with the Teachers the European values of solidarity, justice, equality, human and fundamental rights as well as the challenges that learners are faced with in the modern world. They worked together to design the steps of their action plans, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2021, and have a great impact on society both on a national and European level. Ms Fotini Katsiakou, delegate of the European Centre of Information in Thessaly, Europe Direct was invited to attend the meeting. Ms Katsiakou expressed her intention to support the T4E with resources, materials and information.
